It also encapsulates the government's call for all parents to put the safety of their children first when buying baby furniture. Simply buying non-toxic items doesn't immediately guarantee an environment that's safe for newborns and toddlers. For example, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) only recommends cribs with fixed side rails because adjustable rails present a fall hazard for most children. The Commission also advises parents to avoid placing toys and decorations at the crib or the bedside because babies can still choke on these items.
